First Generation (or G1) ponies are the first release of My Little Pony toys. They were released throughout the 1980s into the early 1990s, and were extremely popular.
My Pretty Pony was in fact the very first My Little Pony. She was released in 1981 in three colour combinations - brown with white leg marks, brown with white leg marks and white rump marks, and peach with pink mane and tail and heart rump marks (or cutie mark). The latter version was later released as a regular 4" brushable My Little Pony called Peachy. Some versions of My Pretty Pony were also released with a baby pony, called Butterscotch, who would again be released in the first wave of My Little Ponies as we know them. My Pretty Pony came with a hat, rug, ribbons, brush and a comb.
This is a photo of my brown My Pretty Pony. I had been after her for such a long time. She's not in the greatest of condition, I prefer to call her well-loved! As you can see she has had a bit of a hair cut at some point. When I got her she also came with her box, which is quite hard to find now.
